Meliha Coşkun

Meliha Coşkun graduated from the Ceramic Department in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Marmara University in 1983. She later studied at the Traditional Iznik Ceramic School and developed her own style of Iznik inspired of early Ottoman and Seljuk pottery traditions. She completed her master of arts degree in ceramics in 2000. Since 2008, Coskun has been working as an adjunct professor in the Ceramic Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Marmara University.

As a ceramic artist, Coskun is known to utilize quartz close to the way it was done in the 16th century. It is a challenging process that gives depth, allure and whiteness to her ceramics. In addition, she produces her own chemicals of blue, turquoise, black, green, and red colors to in her own unique adaptations of Iznik designs. Coskun is one of the renowned master Turkish ceramic artists and her works have been exhibited all over the world including Smithsonian Museum Shops.
